(During the summer months, the “Growing in Christ” curriculum (children) takes a break from its regular curriculum and focuses on a particular topic. That topic, this summer, is “Even the Wind and Waves Obey Him”. The lessons focus on how God uses creation for His purposes.)
Today: “Jesus Heals with Mud” (John 9)
Questions: (1) How was the mud made? In ancient times saliva was thought to have _ _ a l _ _ g powers. (2) What was considered legal age in ancient times?
Next Sunday: “God Opens the Earth” (Matthew 27:45-56, 62-66; 28:1-15)
Questions: (1) Earthquakes were often associated with manifestations of God. Moreover, they were considered a sign of the end and the final judgment. How might this be seen in the death of Jesus? (2) The stone rolled in front of Jesus’ tomb was several feet in diameter. It was thick enough to keep out animals. It was rolled in a hewn channel to seal off the tomb’s entrance and would require several men to move it. What does the earthquake and the angel rolling back the stone to Christ’s tomb show us?
During the summer months, Immanuel’s Adult Growing in Christ Class is studying “The Case for Faith”, a study of objections and problems people have with the Christian faith. All - including youth - are invited!
